Worcester County Sheriff’s Dept Investigating Pocomoke Burglary

POCOMOKE, MD. – On Friday, December 3, 2021, Deputies responded to a residence initially for a Pocomoke City burglary that had occurred. Upon their arrival, Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies met with the victim, who stated that when he arrived home, he observed a blue Ford sedan with Virginia registration plates parked in his driveway.

The victim told Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies that he was approached by an unknown white female asking for gas. As the victim was retrieving gas from his garage for the female, he observed an unknown white male exiting his residence holding his television, at which time an altercation occurred and the victim was physically assaulted.

The victim advised Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies as a result of this physical altercation, he briefly lost consciousness. The victim also advised Deputies that after regaining consciousness, the suspect approached him displaying a handgun.

The victim stated that as he was running from the suspect, the suspect discharged approximately three rounds from this handgun. The suspects fled the scene in the blue Ford sedan which was also occupied by a second unknown white male.

The victim entered inside of his residence to call the police and observed that the suspect attempted to set fire to his residence prior to leaving. The victim extinguished the fire himself prior to help arriving.

Various items from this residence were stolen. Detectives with the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation immediately responded to the scene to assume the investigation, which is ongoing.

On Saturday, December 4, 2021 law enforcement personnel responded to a residential fire in Accomack County, Virginia, where an individual was found deceased. Investigators of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation are working with law enforcement in Accomack County, Virginia to confirm whether these two incidents are connected.
