Hurricane Season officially starts June 1st on the East Coast. After last year’s Nor’Easter damaged many homes and businesses in Somerset County, we need your help to get the County better prepared this year! Our preparedness poster contest for this season starts April 20th and ends May 31st.
We want every preparedness poster contest participant to create a picture on an 8 ½ by 11 piece of paper that shows us what your family does to prepare for hurricane season. On the back of your creation, please print your name, your age, and a number where you can be reached. Entries can be submitted to your school’s libraries. This contest is open to all 7th graders and 8th graders in Somerset County, Maryland.
We are putting together a fun prize package that you could win with your creative entry. Just draw your masterpiece showing how to prepare for a hurricane and submit your work BEFORE May 31st to be considered. The winner will be announced on June 6th and will appear on the Somerset County Facebook page.
Arrangements for picking up prizes will be made when the winner is selected. We wish you luck and look forward to seeing your entries!
