On Thursday, April 08, 2021, at approximately 10:04 PM in the evening, officers from the Salisbury Police Department responded to the La Quinta Inn and Suites, 300 S. Salisbury Boulevard, in reference to a report of a sexual assault. This incident was reported on Eastern Shore Undercover’s Social media pages with a restricted location out of respect for the victim and for the police investigation.

Upon arrival, Salisbury Police Officers met with a 25-year-old female victim. The victim advised that evening she was visiting with an adult male acquaintance at the La Quinta Inn and Suites in a room he had rented for the night. The victim alleged that while she was visiting with him, the suspect engaged in a non-consensual sexual act with her and continued to do so, even after she told him to stop.

The victim was able to leave the room wherein she notified hotel personnel, whom contacted the Salisbury Police. Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify 38-year-old Maurice Johnson as the suspect in this incident.

Detectives made contact with Mr. Johnson at the La Quinta Inn and Suites and he was shortly thereafter transported to the Salisbury Police Department for an interview.

Mr. Johnson was ultimately placed under arrest and later released to the Wicomico County Detention Center where he had an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
