On August 31, 2021, at approximately 3:51 PM, officers from the Salisbury Police Department responded to the area of N. Salisbury Boulevard and Bridgeview Street, near the overhead bridge in Salisbury, Maryland to investigate a report of a single-vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, officers observed members of Salisbury EMS rendering treatment to the driver for significant injuries. Officers also observed a vehicle that had collided with the guardrail on the southbound side of the overhead bridge.
Salisbury EMS declared the driver deceased at the scene. The driver has been identified as 64-year-old Charles Bickauskas, of Salisbury, Maryland, and Mr. Bickauskas’ next of kin were notified.
The Maryland State Police was contacted and responded to conduct an Advanced Crash Investigation. The investigation by members of the Salisbury Police Department and the Maryland State Police revealed that Mr. Bickauskas was operating a motor vehicle and traveling southbound on N. Salisbury Boulevard (Rt. 13) crossing the overhead bridge.
The vehicle Mr. Bickauskas was operating struck the guard rail rendering the vehicle inoperable. Members of the Salisbury Police Department, Maryland State Police, and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing this investigation and anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the Salisbury Police Department at (410) 548-3165.
