WICOMICO COUNTY UPGRADES TO END-TO-END E-PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
New cloud portal majorly upgrades County's end-to-end procurement process.
Wicomico County has launched a new online portal for vendors to submit bids online, powered by OpenGov Procurement.
With the new software, the County is able to operate more efficiently, adapt to changing vendor and policy needs, while strengthening public trust leveraging automated, collaborative and transparency tools within the software. The software was recently certified by the National Procurement Institute with an AEP certification for meeting the capabilities required to run a modern procurement program, specific to supplier engagement and evaluations.
From RFPs to contracts, Wicomico County is transforming its entire procurement lifecycle in a single cloud platform. Previously, the County's procurement team relied on spreadsheets and emails to create solicitations, and was limited to accepting paper-based in-person bids only. This resulted in fewer bids, less diverse range of vendors the County purchased from, and frustrated colleagues across departments. With OpenGov, Wicomico County is saving time, supporting competitive bids, and improving cross-departmental collaboration.
"We'd grown accustomed to our paper-based processes and manual workflow, but I'm excited about the level of automation built into the OpenGov Procurement platform," said Amy Kernodle, Purchasing Agent for Wicomico County. "We're going to be able to save so much time, which means that we're able to invest that back into our community, and making it the best place to live, work, and do business."
With the implementation of OpenGov Procurement, Wicomico County is able to improve its procurement process through:
- Ensuring compliant solicitation development, helping teams build solicitations more quickly and accurately, while offering a more guided, equitable and accessible way for suppliers to respond to solicitations.
- Happier suppliers and faster, compliant evaluations with automated tabulations, addenda, public calendar updates, notifications, in-line instructions, Q&A, live chat support, and reporting.
- Cloud-based proactive contract management with milestone tracking and deadline alerts, giving internal teams and the public easy access to data with the ability to make procurement documents easily accessible.
"We are thrilled to partner with Wicomico County to launch its e-procurement platform," said Nav Kalra, VP of Professional Services at OpenGov. "The OpenGov portal makes it easy for any supplier to view and bid on a project, and for the County's team to operate more efficiently. Our mission is to power more effective and accountable government, and working with public servants like those in Wicomico County inspires us at OpenGov to continue investing in our platform and communities."
