WICOMICO COUNTY UNVEILS 5-YEAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano recently unveiled the highlights of the County's 5-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), outlining key infrastructure projects to boost public services, improve community spaces, and stimulate local economic growth.
"An investment in Wicomico County's infrastructure is an investment in our future," expressed Executive Giordano. "Our projects address current needs while positioning us for sustainable growth and enhanced quality of life."
The CIP identifies an array of projects across vital county facilities. The plan involves substantial upgrades to the Salisbury Regional Airport, consolidation of the Health Department, upgrades to the Civic Center, and significant developments in community parks.
Salisbury Regional Airport will see essential renovations to support expanded services and operations. Projects involve hangar roof rehabilitation and new fire suppression systems for the airport's hangars and the Business Park, thus significantly improving safety measures.
In the healthcare sector, the County's Health Department plans to consolidate and relocate to a newly designed facility off Mt. Hermon Road. This move aims to improve service accessibility and operational efficiency while providing a centralized space for county health services.
The Wicomico County Civic Center will receive critical updates over the next five years. These upgrades include improvements to the elevator and escalator systems to enhance accessibility and convenience for all visitors.
The Mason Dixon Sports Complex is set for a significant redevelopment under a new master plan. Renovations aim to expand its facilities, better serve athletes and visitors, and support the County's blossoming sports tourism industry.
Looking toward the long term, a comprehensive master plan for Connelly Mill Park in 2030 is in the works. The plan will focus on park amenities, expanding recreational opportunities, and preserving green space for future generations.
Through the CIP, Wicomico County prioritizes projects that boost public safety, improve accessibility, and foster economic and recreational opportunities. These calculated investments mirror Wicomico's dedication to a sustainable and prosperous future for all its residents.
