WICOMICO COUNTY TOURISM AND SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SELECTED TO HOST NCAA MEN'S VOLLEYBALL FINALS
Salisbury, MD -The Wicomico County Civic Center in the heart of Salisbury, MD, is gearing up to set the stage for one of the biggest sporting events in the calendar - the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) 2027 Men's Volleyball Division III Finals.
Wicomico County Tourism and Salisbury University have been announced as the hosts for this prestigious championship, marking an exciting turn of events for volleyball enthusiasts and sports lovers. This announcement comes after the NCAA declared host sites for preliminary and final rounds of predetermined championships for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons.
This event, set to occur from April 22-25, 2027, is not just a volleyball final but an emblem of the energetic community spirit in Salisbury. The competition was steep, with the NCAA receiving over 1,200 bids from member schools, conferences, cities, and sports commissions across 47 states and Washington, D.C.
However, Wicomico County Tourism and Salisbury University emerged victorious, laying the groundwork for the first-ever NCAA National Championship to be held in Wicomico County. As co-hosts of this event, they are buzzing with anticipation to showcase the sporting prowess of the area and provide a top-notch experience for supporters and athletes alike.
Echoing this sentiment, Wicomico County Tourism Manager Justin Polizzi remarked, "It is exciting to bring the first NCAA National Championship to Wicomico County. We look forward to working with our community partners to put on the first of many successful NCAA events in Wicomico County."

The Maryland Sports Commission staunchly backed the bid. In a statement, Terry Hasseltine, the Commission's executive director, expressed pride in partnering with TEAM Maryland partners to bring the NCAA Men's Volleyball National Championships to Maryland.
As the countdown to the event begins, Salisbury prepares to welcome a wave of competitors, supporters, and sports spectators who will experience an electrifying atmosphere of exciting matches, sportsmanship, and thrilling competition.
