WICOMICO COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY VEHICLE STRUCK WHILE STATIONARY AT TRAFFIC SIGNAL
Salisbury, MD - On August 30, 2024, an on-duty Wicomico County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a motor vehicle crash on RT 50 at the intersection with Delaware Ave in Salisbury, Maryland. The Deputy's vehicle was stationary at the traffic signal when it was hit from behind by another vehicle.
The Deputy, the driver, and the passenger of the other vehicle were taken to Tidal Health, where they received medical treatment before being discharged.
The vehicle driver who struck the Deputy was identified as Lashawn Brown from Princess Anne, Maryland. Brown was subsequently charged with several counts following the incident, including Driving While Impaired by Drugs, Driving on a Suspended License, Driving without a License, Negligent Driving, and Failure to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision. Despite the charges, Brown was let go on citations.
