WICOMICO COUNTY MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN FRUITLAND, MARYLAND

Wicomico County, MD - The Maryland State Police have announced the arrest of Brandt John Roberts, a man from Wicomico County, in connection with a death investigation in Fruitland, Maryland.


Roberts faces charges of first- and second-degree murder following the tragic death of Albert Joseph Vacovsky III.


The investigation began on the evening of April 25, when officers from the Fruitland Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Camden Avenue. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of 27-year-old Vacovsky. Medical personnel confirmed his death at the scene.


Roberts, who is 40 years old, has been taken into custody by the Maryland State Police and is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center. He is awaiting a hearing before a district court commissioner.


The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the ongoing investigation, with assistance from the Fruitland and Salisbury Police Departments, as well as forensic technicians from the Maryland State Police.


This case remains under active investigation as authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.


Note: On April 26, 2025, Roberts was ordered to be held without bond. Roberts is currently being held on the following charges:

  • Manslaughter
  • Assault - First Degree
