Wicomico County, MD - A tragic traffic accident occurred in Wicomico County, Maryland, on Wednesday, resulting in the death of four-year-old Kinsley Parks from Crisfield, Maryland. Parks was pronounced dead on Thursday by the medical team at Nemours Children's Hospital in Delaware, as a result of Wednesday's crash.

The incident happened around 7:50 a.m. on February 26, 2025, when Maryland State Troopers from the Salisbury Barrack responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 13 and Stockyard Road in Eden, Maryland.

An initial investigation suggests that Kinsley's father, 30-year-old Jalen Scott Evans, was driving a Hyundai Elantra and attempting to make a left turn from the northbound lane of Route 13 onto Stockyard Road when it collided with a Mazda 3, driven by 45-year-old Ricky Leslie Lavere Jr., also from Crisfield, Maryland.

The Mazda struck the Hyundai near the rear passenger side, where Kinsley is believed to have been secured in a child safety seat.

In response to the emergency, the Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 4 airlifted Kinsley to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland. Her father, Jalen Scott Evans, was transported via ambulance by the Allen Volunteer Fire Company to the same hospital.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and the Allen Volunteer Fire Company assisted in managing the aftermath of the crash, implementing road closures that lasted for about four hours.

This heartbreaking incident is under investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team, and the cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
