WATER PUMP FAILURE THE CAUSE OF CORDOVA FIRE
Cordova, MD - On July 16, 2024, a structure fire occurred in Cordova, Talbot County, in the 29000 block of Schockley Lane. The incident unfolded at approximately 4:06 P.M., involving a 14' X 60' Mobile Home.
Thanks to the combined effort and expertise of 45 firefighters from Cordova Volunteer Fire Company and surrounding agencies, the fire was controlled in 45 minutes.
The homeowner first discovered the fire. With damage estimated at $100,000 concerning both the structure and content, the incident has left a considerable financial impact.
According to preliminary investigations, the fire's origin was traced to the exterior of the home, and the cause is believed to be accidental.
The water pump appears to have failed mechanically and electrically. In response, the American Red Cross was notified about the fire and offered necessary assistance to the residence's occupants.
