WANTED SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER FOOT PURSUIT IN GRASONVILLE

Queen Anne's County, MD - On January 14th, while performing traffic duties on Route 18 near Grasonville Elementary School around 4:30 PM, Deputy First Class Bradley noticed an individual named Kevin Briscoe walking on the sidewalk. Bradley recognized Briscoe from previous encounters and was aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Knowing Briscoe had previously attempted to evade law enforcement, Bradley called for backup while keeping a distance to monitor him. Shortly afterward, DFC Colburn arrived at the scene and approached Briscoe on foot. Despite repeated commands from the deputies for Briscoe to stop, he chose to ignore them.
Briscoe then initiated a foot chase towards Grasonville Cemetery Road. The deputies warned him vocally about the potential use of a taser if he continued to flee, but he disregarded these warnings.
DFC Colburn and DFC Brown attempted to subdue Briscoe with their electronic control devices, but their efforts were unsuccessful due to insufficient contact. Eventually, the deputies apprehended Briscoe on Whitehouse Drive.
As deputies assisted him in standing up, a small bag containing a white powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine, was found on the ground.
A further search revealed more controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
To ensure his well-being, Briscoe was taken for a medical examination before being brought to the Sheriff's Office for processing, where he was later held without bail.
Briscoe is facing multiple charges, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance (not cannabis) on two counts, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting or interfering with an arrest.
