VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CONCORD POND CLEANUP
To safeguard one of Sussex County's favorite spots, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and its partners are calling for enthusiastic volunteers for this year's cleanup at the beautiful Concord Pond. The event is slated to happen from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 13, as a part of DNREC's month-long Earth Day festivities.
Whether you are an environmental warrior or a concerned citizen, every hand helps. All volunteers will meet at the pond's parking area near Concord Pond Road and Henry Drive in Seaford. The task? Cleaning both the tidal and nontidal areas around the pond.
Don't worry about equipment - gloves, trash bags, and some trash grabbers will be provided. However, if you have your gloves and trash grabbers, please bring them along.
DNREC's Division of Watershed Stewardship organizes the cleanup Reclaim Our River-Nanticoke Series program in partnership with the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance and the Delaware Nature Society's Abbott's Mill Nature Center.
But the cleanup is just the beginning. The Reclaim Our River partnership hosts events, presentations, and workshops that promote healthy watersheds. To stay updated on upcoming activities, check the DNREC Calendar of Events and Division of Watershed Stewardship Facebook page.
