TWO JUVENILES ARRESTED FOR DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN LAUREL
LAUREL, DE - On February 22, 2024, the Laurel Police Department, with the assistance of the Milford Police Department and Delaware State Police, in an exemplary show of collaboration and seamless operation, successfully apprehended two juveniles in connection with a drive-by shooting incident in Laurel, Delaware.
The incident unfolded in the area of Hollybrook Apartments on Discount Land Road, where multiple 911 callers reported suspects firing multiple shots from a silver Kia Forte. Officers quickly descended upon the scene and confirmed there was evidence of a shooting. Thankfully, there were no victims hit by the gunfire.
A thorough investigation resulted in information about the suspects and their vehicle from witnesses, as well as recovered valuable surveillance footage. This information was quickly dispatched to neighboring law enforcement agencies in Delaware and Maryland.
Officers of the Milford Police Department later discovered the suspect's vehicle in a BP Gas Station parking lot in Milford, Delaware. A traffic stop was attempted, leading to two male subjects fleeing the vehicle, leaving behind two females who remained at the scene. Police were able to recover two loaded firearms at the scene.
With the help of the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit and DSP K9 Units, a comprehensive search of the area led to the capture of the fleeing subjects- a 15-year-old male from Georgetown, DE, and a 17-year-old male from Lincoln, DE.
Investigations linked the individuals to the Laurel, Delaware shooting.
The juveniles, both with prior arrest records, now face a slew of charges including possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, reckless endangering, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and conspiracy. They were both committed into the custody of Stevenson House Juvenile Detention Center in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
