TALBOT COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT INVESTIGATING EARLY MORNING ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY
Talbot County, MD - In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 23, 2024, local law enforcement responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the area of Howell Point Road near Hunter Lane in Trappe, Maryland.
Authorities arrived at the scene to find one individual who was allegedly a victim of an attempted armed robbery, prompting an immediate search for four suspects who fled the scene.
According to authorities, while Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office and Troopers from the Maryland State Police were speaking with the victim, a dark-colored vehicle approached the scene.
A Talbot County Sheriff's Deputy ordered the vehicle's occupants to show their hands, yet the driver put the vehicle in reverse and attempted to escape, only to land in a ditch, leading to the four occupants fleeing into the woods.
Investigation into the matter reveals that the victim had been forced into the vehicle by the individuals who later fled from deputies. The Sheriff's office emphasized that this was not a random incident, and the victim had been specifically targeted by the assailants.
Despite rigorous search efforts by the Talbot County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, Natural Resources Police, Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, and Cambridge Police Department, the suspects remain at large. Based on current evidence, they are believed to have left the area.
