SUSPECT OF HOME INVASION AND KIDNAPPING RELEASED AT BOND REVIEW BY DISTRICT COURT JUDGE
Trappe, MD - A suspect arrested for his role in a chilling kidnapping, home invasion and armed robbery incident in Trappe, Maryland, has been released from custody just one day after his arrest.
Flamond D. Woolford, an 18-year-old from Cambridge, Maryland, was charged with an incredible list of crimes, including Home Invasion, Kidnapping, First Degree Assault, Robbery, Armed Robbery, Reckless Endangerment, Theft, Firearm Use in a Felony/Violent Crime, and conspiracies to commit those crimes. All combined, Woolford is charged with 28 offenses, 7 of which are felonies.
Woolford was arrested on April 29, 2024, and was initially ordered to be held without bond by the District Court Commissioner.
With that being said, on April 30, 2024, one day after his arrest, Woolford had a Bond Review in front of Talbot County District Court Judge Karen Ketterman, where he was released from custody on a $30,000 "unsecured bond".
An unsecured bond is a system in which the accused is released with a promise to pay a set amount if they fail to attend their court dates. The unsecured bond is much different than a "secured bond", where the accused is required to pay a certain amount upfront before being released, normally by utilizing a bail bondsman.
Therefore, Woolford's unsecured bond means he did not have to put up any money to get out of jail for charges stemming from a very violent incident.
The incident leading to Woolford's arrest began in the early hours of Saturday, March 23, 2024, when deputies responded to multiple reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Howell Point Road near Hunter Lane in Trappe, Maryland.
Upon their arrival at the scene, they found a distressed victim of a terrifying kidnapping, home invasion and armed robbery coordinated by Woolford, and another suspect, who has also been arrested. The other accomplice, Yahjay Nathaniel Greene, is currently held in jail without bond, with additional charges stemming from a police chase.
This ongoing investigation still seeks any information about this incident and asks anyone with knowledge to contact the sheriff's office at 410-822-1020.
