SUSPECT ARRESTED AT SEAFORD HIGH SCHOOL WITH A LOADED HANDGUN
Seaford, DE - An 18-year-old from Seaford, Delaware, has been charged with weapons violations after being found in school with a handgun and a knife.
Fernando Etienne was arrested today after the weapons were found in his backpack at Seaford High School. The items were found during a disciplinary procedure, where staff members of Seaford High School searched the backpack and found a loaded handgun and a large knife inside the bag.
School Resource Officers were notified, and Etienne was taken into custody. He was transported to the Seaford Police Department, where he was officially charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon-firearm, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon-knife, possessing a Firearm in a Safe Recreational Zone, and possessing a Weapon in a Safe Recreational Zone.
Officers took Etienne to a Judge from the Justice of the Peace Court 2, where the judge released him on his own recognizance.
All individuals named in this report are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
