STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE IS INVESTIGATING AN OVERNIGHT FIRE THAT LEFT THREE HOMES UNINHABITABLE IN CAMBRIDGE

Cambridge, MD - Fire investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal are conducting an ongoing investigation into a two-alarm fire that caused extensive damage in the 400 block of Wood Duck Drive in Cambridge, Maryland late Monday night.


The fire was reported by a neighbor shortly before 11:30 PM on March 13, 2025 and resulted in the destruction of one townhome, with significant damage to two adjacent residences.


Approximately 50 firefighters from the Rescue Fire Company of Cambridge and neighboring fire departments in Dorchester and Talbot counties responded to the scene. Firefighters battled the blaze for an hour and a half before successfully bringing it under control. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.


The fire originated in a two-story, wood-framed middle-of-the-row townhome, which is now a total loss. The two adjoining homes sustained considerable damage. Smoke alarms and a residential fire sprinkler system were present and activated during the incident.


Estimated damages from the fire amount to $750,000. Authorities have not yet released additional information regarding the cause of the fire, as the investigation remains ongoing.
