SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION THE CAUSE OF SHED FIRE IN WICOMICO COUNTY

Salisbury, MD - On June 20, 2024, at approximately 6:54 PM, firefighters were dispatched to the 200 block of Gold Street in Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland, for a small Rubbermaid shed that had caught on fire.

The owner discovered the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally from the spontaneous combustion of oily rags inside the shed.

The Salisbury Fire Department responded to the incident. The fire was kept under control within just five minutes, thanks to the quick response of five brave firefighters.

The incident, while unexpected, serves as a reminder of the importance of safe storage and disposal of flammable materials such as oily rags. The shed, totaling an estimated loss of $1000, and its contents, valued at approximately $1500, were unfortunately lost to the fire.
