SPITTING ON A POLICE OFFICERS LANDS CAMBRIDGE WOMAN IN HANDCUFFS
CAMBRIDGE, MD - On February 18, 2024, Cambridge Police Department officers were called to the Wawa about a disturbance caused by an intoxicated woman.
According to the police report, the woman, identified as 22-year-old Tamesha Lanice Johnson from Cambridge, MD, was causing a scene, yelling and screaming inside the establishment around 2:49 am.
Despite police attempts to calm her down and request that she leave the establishment, Johnson continued her unruly behavior, disturbing other patrons. Officers were eventually forced to physically escort her from the premises.
However, Johnson's disruptive demeanor escalated when she began resisting the officers, even going as far as assaulting an officer by spitting on them while being placed in the patrol vehicle.
While attending to Johnson, another woman on the premises, known to Johnson, identified as Ramia Jackson, 27, also from Cambridge, MD, initially tried to help defuse the situation. Her assistance, however, took a sharp turn when she began obstructing officers, hindering them from arresting Johnson.
Despite repeated requests to stop her actions, Jackson's non-compliance led to her own arrest.
Both women were transported to the Cambridge Police Department for their initial court appearance and processing. They were later released on their own recognizance.
Johnson was charged with failure to obey a lawful order, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and second-degree assault.
Jackson was also charged with disorderly conduct, failure to obey a lawful order, obstruction and hindering, and hindering arrest.
It was later discovered that Jackson had an active Wicomico County District Court Bench Warrant for failing to appear in court on December 26, 2023, on an original charge of driving on a suspended license.
