SOMERSET COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE MAKE ARRESTS IN RECENT SOCIAL MEDIA SCHOOL THREAT
Somerset County, MD – Earlier this week, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office investigated threats that were made to a Somerset County Public School on social media.
Several students provided information about the threats to school staff, who then alerted their School Resource Officer (SRO) and the SRO Supervisor.
Due to the nature of the threat, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) was contacted and initiated a thorough investigation into the alleged incident with the cooperation of school staff and the Somerset County Board of Education.
As a result of this investigation, CID applied for, and obtained, District Court Arrest Warrants for the following individuals, which were served on Thursday, June 1, 2023 by deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office:
- Shakira Cephas, 28, of Princess Anne was charged with Threat of Mass Violence, Conspiracy to Commit Assault, Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm, Illegal Possession of Ammo by a Prohibited Person, Contributing to the Condition of a Child and Disorderly Conduct.
- Rontari Malik Warren, 29, of Princess Anne was charged with Threat of Mass Violence, Illegal Possession of a Registered Firearm and Illegal Possession of Ammo by a Prohibited Person.
Both subjects were seen by a District Court Commissioner and transported to the Somerset County Detention Center where they were held without bond.
All subjects mentioned in this press release are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
