SOMERSET COUNTY HOUSE FIRE CLAIMS THE LIVES OF SEVERAL FAMILY PETS

Princess Anne, Somerset County-A catastrophic house fire on Monday displaced a family and caused the loss of several family pets. The fire occurred in the  32400 block of West Post Office Road in Princess Anne, Maryland.

The incident, which occurred on March 25, 2024, at 1:07 PM was met with an immediate response from the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company (VFC), along with several other local fire departments. The team of 25 firefighters managed to control the situation after an intense battle lasting one hour and thirty minutes. 

The fire resulted in substantial damage to the structure and contents. totaling $180,00 combined, at $150,000 to the structure and $30,000 in contents damage.

Tragically, the family lost their three dogs and multiple cats as a result of the fire. 

The cause of the fire and its area of origin remain under investigation. 

It's worth noting that there were no smoke alarms or fire sprinklers present in the house at the time of the fire.  This incident serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of installing and regularly checking such life-saving devices in homes.

The family is currently being assisted by The American Red Cross and their family members.
