SHAWANDA GARRISON RETURNS AS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Salisbury, MD - Shawanda Garrison rejoins the City of Salisbury's finance department as Assistant Director of Finance - Operations. This announcement brings back a familiar face to the department as Garrison had previously spent eleven years with the City, serving seven years as an accountant before stepping into the role of Assistant Director of Finance for four years.


She brings with her a wealth of experience in both municipal and higher education finance.


In a statement expressing her enthusiasm, Garrison said, "I am thrilled to be returning to the City of Salisbury. I owe my gratitude to my Lord and Savior-for with Him, all is achievable. My education, experience, and personal skills, I believe, will enhance the City's financial and customer service operations. I assure the City my utmost dedication and persistence in fulfilling my responsibilities."


Since exiting the City in 2017, Garrison has played key roles in multiple accounting positions. She served as the Executive Director of Financial Services for Delaware State University and as Accountant for the cities of Harrington and Ocean View. Her varied experiences position Garrison as a significant asset to Salisbury's financial leadership.


A proud Delaware native, Garrison holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Delaware State University. Currently residing in Bridgeville, Delaware, with her three children, she has spent her life on the Eastern Shore.


Sandy Green, the current Finance Director, expressed her excitement about Garrison's comeback, "I am enthusiastically awaiting Shawanda's return to the City of Salisbury. Her fresh perspective and renewed enthusiasm, coupled with many years of accounting experience, will undoubtedly benefit our team."
