SECOND SUSPECT ARRESTED IN SALISBURY SHOOTING
Salisbury, MD - Maryland State Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a lethal double shooting that occurred last year in Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland.
The suspect has been identified as 17-year-old Cashmir Holbrook of Salisbury, Maryland. Holbrook, much like another suspect in the incident, who was also arrested and identified as Mykel Elliott, is being charged as an adult with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and related charges.
Both teenagers are implicated in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Ja'siah Sin'cer Johnson and the shooting of Jamere Capri Maynes, 22. The crimes occurred after midnight on April 16, 2023, in the East Carroll Street neighborhood near Buena Vista Avenue.
The victims were found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to TidalHealth Peninsula Medical Center. Sadly, Johnson was pronounced dead at the facility, while Maynes received treatment for injuries he sustained during the incident.
Holbrook was taken into custody by the Maryland State Police and then transferred to the Wicomico County Detention Center. He will be held without bail pending his first court appearance.
Mykel Elliott has also been apprehended and appeared in court for his initial hearing on July 6, 2023. Elliott is also being held without bond as they now both await trial.
The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, along with detectives and officers from the Salisbury Police Department, are continuing their investigations.
