SATURDAY MORNING FIRE IN EASTON WAS THE RESULT OF A MALFUNCTIONING KEROSENE HEATER
EASTON, MD-A four-story business warehouse located in the 400 block of Brookletts Avenue in Easton, Maryland, suffered damage from a fire on the morning of December 7th, 2024. A bystander who spotted smoke billowing from the premises reported the incident at 10:37 A.M.
The primary responding unit was the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, which was quickly on the scene and extinguished the fire within 36 minutes of its arrival. A total of 27 firefighters were involved in the operation.
The warehouse, which houses multiple businesses, including a photography business, is on the third floor and bore the brunt of the fire's devastation.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire originated from a malfunctioning kerosene heater on the third floor. The estimated loss, combining structural and content damage, is approximately $10,000.
In a stroke of fortune, the building's sprinkler system was triggered, helping contain the fire to its point of origin. This prevented the incident from escalating into a potentially catastrophic scenario.
