SALISBURY, MD - The Salisbury University Foundation, Inc. recently bid farewell to four retiring members of its board of directors.

They included (first year of service in parentheses): Howard Crossan (2018), Gary Desjardins (2015), Julius Zant (2015), and Rick Givens II '75, '76, who served a second cycle on the board (2002 and 2015).

"With more than three decades of combined service to the SU Foundation, these members have helped the University flourish while also upholding the foundation's mission of providing valuable scholarship and funding opportunities for students, faculty and staff," said Jason Curtin, SU vice president of advancement and executive director of the foundation. "We salute their leadership to the foundation and to the University."

In recognizing the retiring board members, the foundation announced a special tribute for Givens, naming him a board member emeritus in honor of his dedication and contributions to the organization and the University for over 20 years.

During his most recent tenure and those of the other retirees, the SU Foundation saw its assets grow to more than $100 million for the first time. The University also saw a number of changes, including the creation of the College of Health and Human Services and Graduate School at SU, the addition of SU Downtown, and the construction of new athletics facilities, including Sea Gull Stadium.

While serving on the board, this year's retirees also saw the establishment of the Charles A. Wight Center for Equity, Justice and Inclusion, and the Dave and Patsy Rommel Center for Entrepreneurship at SU Downtown; as well as the opening of the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons, recognized as one of the nation's top 10 collegiate libraries by The Princeton Review.

Guided by a 30-member board, the SU Foundation was created in 1973 to accumulate funds bygift and investment to enhance the University. Since then, it has enriched the academic growth and physical expansion of SU through the support of student scholarships, faculty research, new facilities and community outreach.
