Salisbury, MD - The Salisbury Police Department has announced the passing of a longtime valued and respected member of the agency.
Hank, a retired Police K9 from Salisbury Police Department passed away while being surrounded by his loving family.
Hank's distinguished career at Salisbury Police Department began in September 2014, when he was partnered with Senior Police Officer Jason Sander. Sander and Hank spent nine years together on the streets of Salisbury, until his retirement in April 2023.
At that time, following his retirement, Hank began a life at home with Sander and his family, enjoying life as a house pet.
His days were filled with play, love, and companionship, especially with his new human brother and the extended Sander family.
As a multipurpose K9, Hank was trained in both narcotics detection and tracking, playing a vital role in numerous narcotics and gun seizures throughout his career.
Hank's contributions extended beyond law enforcement duties. He was also a significant figure in strengthening community relations through his numerous K9 demonstrations, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of Salisbury residents.
Hank's passing is a loss not only to the Sanders, with whom he spent his last years, but also to the entire Salisbury Police Department family and the community that he had served selflessly.
The Salisbury Police Department expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hank for his service, dedication to the community, and his indelible legacy in a Facebook post earlier today.
Rest in peace, Hank. Your contributions will never be forgotten.
