SALISBURY CITY COUNTY ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO MEETINGS
Salisbury, MD - The Salisbury City Council has announced significant changes to their 2025 meeting schedule, designed to improve operations and increase security. Starting and effective immediately, Legislative meetings will take place on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month at 6 PM, and will include a Work Session when necessary.
Council President D'Shawn Doughty stated that these changes aim to enhance the efficiency and security of the council's sessions, while maintaining a commitment to transparency. He emphasized that, even with these changes, the public continues to play a fundamental role in the decision-making process.
Due to increased security measures, Zoom meeting participation is now limited to City of Salisbury staff and presenters. The Council is in the process of developing a solution to allow the public to virtually view the meetings.
Meanwhile, public comments during both Work Sessions and Legislative Sessions are now limited to two minutes per speaker, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard in a timely and orderly manner.
To facilitate public comment, the City Council has introduced an online form on the City Council landing page of their website. Public comments must now be submitted using this form, from the Tuesday preceding the meeting through noon the day of the meeting. No electronic submissions will be accepted past this deadline.
For those members of the public who prefer traditional methods, paper forms for public comment will still be accepted. However, they must be filled out and handed to the City Clerk before the commencement of the meeting.
These alterations to the City Council meetings, part of the Council's ongoing efforts to continually improve operations, stress the importance of efficiency, security, and transparency within city operations.
