OCEAN PINES, MD - On March 25, 2025, at approximately 9:43 PM, the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department (OPVFD) responded to a residential structure fire in the 1100 block of Ocean Parkway in Ocean Pines, Maryland.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw visible flames coming from a bedroom at the rear of the single-family home.

Fire crews acted quickly, implementing an aggressive fire suppression strategy to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. They successfully gained entry into the affected areas and extinguished the fire, preventing it from extending to other parts of the house.

A firefighter who was en route to the station stopped at the scene and closed open doors within the home, which helped isolate the fire to the bedroom and reduce further damage. The fire was officially declared under control by 10:09 PM.

Support was provided by neighboring fire departments, with additional units on standby for assistance. The occupants of the home had safely evacuated before the fire department's arrival, and no injuries were reported among the residents or emergency responders.

The OPVFD expressed gratitude to all mutual aid agencies for their collaboration and issued an important reminder to the community about fire safety.

Residents are encouraged to ensure their smoke alarms are functioning properly and to close both interior and exterior doors when evacuating. This action can significantly slow the spread of fire and smoke.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office, and the scene has been turned over for further review.
