Talbot County, MD - On November 10, 2024, the Talbot County Sheriff's Office in Maryland was involved in an pursuit that has now resulted in an 18-year-old being charged.

The incident began on Ocean Gateway (Rt 50), near Howell Point Cutoff Road, when deputies noticed a Mercedes SUV speeding significantly above the legal limit, reaching speeds of over 110 miles per hour.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Dariusz Jordan Hentz from Upper Marlboro in Prince George's County, Maryland, refused to stop when deputies attempted to pull him over.

Instead, Hentz accelerated, leading deputies on a pursuit that stretched from Trappe, MD, to Easton, MD. His reckless driving and blatant disregard for traffic laws posed a serious threat to public safety and to the deputies chasing him.

Recognizing the increasing danger to the public, the deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office made the decision to prioritize public safety and terminated the pursuit upon reaching Easton.

Although the chase had ended, they immediately launched an investigation to identify the driver. The Patrol Division collaborated with the Criminal Investigations Division and confirmed Hentz as the driver of the Mercedes SUV.

On January 28, 2025, a criminal summons was issued by the Talbot County District Court Commissioner's Office. Hentz was charged with obstructing and hindering a police officer, fleeing and eluding a police officer, reckless driving, speeding, and several other related offenses.

On February 5, 2025, Hentz was served with the criminal summons by the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office, informing him of the charges and the upcoming court appearance in Talbot County District Court.
