PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY 9 AS INAUGURAL GULF OF AMERICA DAY

United States - President Donald J. Trump has officially declared February 9, 2025, as the inaugural Gulf of America Day. This comes following the signing of Executive Order 14172 on January 20, 2025, which called for renaming the area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
The Executive Order, aptly named "Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness," mandated the Secretary of the Interior to take the necessary steps for this rechristening. The newly renamed Gulf of America is defined as the US Continental Shelf area bounded on the northeast, north, and northwest by the State of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, extending to the seaward boundary with Mexico and Cuba.
This renaming, according to the wording of the Order, was prompted by the desire to honor the significant role the region has played in the history and development of the United States. The Gulf of America, it is noted, has been an integral asset to the Nation.
On February 9, President Trump made his maiden visit to the Gulf of America since its renaming. He spoke on the importance of restoring American pride in the historical greatness of the country. He further urged the Nation to commemorate this momentous occasion and recognize the renaming of the Gulf of America.
By virtue of his executive authority, President Trump has proclaimed February 9, 2025, as Gulf of America Day. In an effort to ensure this piece of history is not forgotten, he has called upon public officials and all the people of the United States to mark this day with suitable programs, ceremonies, and activities.
This proclamation was signed and witnessed on February 9, 2025. Thus, as we celebrate the independence of the United States of America in its two-hundred-and-forty-ninth year, we also commemorate the first-ever Gulf of America Day.
