PRENTICE HARRIS SENTENCED TO 4 CONSECUTIVE LIFE SENTENCES, ONE WITHOUT PAROLE, PLUS 65 YEARS
Wicomico County, MD - On May 12, 2023, the Honorable Karen M. Dean, Associate Judge of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, sentenced Prentice Harris, 57 years of age, to Life without the possibility of Parole, 3 consecutive Life sentences, plus Sixty-Five (65) years of incarceration.Harris was convicted on March 16, 2023, after a two-day jury trial, of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, three counts of First-Degree Rape, four counts of Second-Degree Rape, and related offenses. Harris was also determined to be a Sexually Violent Predator.From January 2019 through December 2021, Prentice Harris sexually abused a minor who was under the age of 15.Wicomico County State's Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes said, "When children are sexually abused, there is no punishment that can serve to capture, in full, the devastation experienced by the survivors, which is often lifelong. Because of the diligent prosecution of this case, the courage of the survivor, and the strong sentence of the Court, we can take solace in the fact that this violent predator will never again be free to prey upon the children of our community."SA Jamie L. Dykes commended Detective D. Schultz of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, who was the lead investigator, Child Protective Services, and members of the Child Advocacy Center for their work in the investigation.
