POLICE MAKE ARREST IN RECENT STABBING IN CAMBRIDGE, MARYLAND
Dorchester County, MD - On October 13, 2024, at approximately 3:05 pm, Cambridge Police officers were alerted to a 1st-degree assault that had taken place. The victim was reporting having been stabbed by an individual, who was later identified as 38-year-old Chakre Chamar Rich. The incident took place earlier in the morning, around 5:30 am, at a residence on Linden Ave in Cambridge, Maryland.
The victim and Ms. Rich found themselves embroiled in a dispute that quickly escalated. According to the victim's account, Rich left the room briefly before returning with a pair of scissors. Without warning, she lashed out, stabbing the victim in the neck.
In a desperate attempt to disarm Rich, the victim suffered additional injuries to the hands. Despite their injuries, they managed to leave the residence and seek safety until Rich left the scene.
Following the incident, the victim sought refuge at a family member's residence before being taken to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Cambridge, Maryland, for treatment. After receiving medical care, the victim reported the incident to the police.
Acting on the victim's report, Cambridge Police officers responded, tracing Rich to the Linden Ave residence. Officers arrested Rich without incident and transported her to the Cambridge Police Department for further processing.
Rich was later brought before a Court Commissioner for her initial appearance. Following this, she was transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections. Rich is facing serious charges, including first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and use of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. As of the latest update, she is held with no bond.
