PITTSVILLE MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING EXPLOSIVES BEING LOCATED ON HIS PROPERTY

Pittsville, MD-On March 7, 2024, a disturbing scene unfolded in the 7000 block of Gumboro Road, Pittsville, as Wicomico County Sheriff's Detectives were called out to check on the welfare of resident Christopher James Wilgus Jr.  

Upon their arrival, detectives encountered an alarming sight - homemade explosive devices scattered throughout the property. Wilgus, who resides in the garage and motorhome on the grounds, professed concerns about potential threats to his home, mentioning surveillance drones and individuals.

Further investigation revealed more about the explosives in plain sight, leading the investigators to involve the Maryland State Fire Marshals Office. The Marshals confirmed the explosives' authenticity. Samples were collected for a more detailed examination. 

The seriousness of the findings led to Wilgus's immediate arrest. He was taken to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office before being transferred to the Wicomico County Detention Center. Wilgus is currently held without bond and is set for another bond hearing on March 8, 2024. 

Following the arrest, detectives obtained and executed a Search and Seizure Warrant at Wilgus's property. All remaining devices were neutralized and taken off the premises, restoring safety in the area.
