PEAFOWL LEAVES SALISBURY ZOO

Salisbury, MD - The two peafowl who lived at the Salisbury Zoo have moved to a different facility. Many zoos are moving away from having free-roaming animals, like the peacock and peahen because they are difficult to manage and catch when necessary."The peafowl are the only free-roaming animals we have," said Salisbury Zoo Registrar Jessica O'Neill. "Because they are free-roaming, there could be the risk of them spreading avian influenza, and we need to consider our entire animal collection."At the new facility, the peafowl will be with their offspring.© Eastern Shore Undercover LLC TM/SM.
