PARKING ADJUSTMENTS FOR DOWNTOWN SALISBURY
Salisbury, MD - Unity Square construction will begin on Monday, June 12th, closing a portion of S. Division St. and half of the Lot 1 parking lot (across from the parking garage). Unity Square will bring a central green space to the center of the City and provide a new footprint for a variety of events and celebrations. With the parking lot being used for construction and equipment, alternative parking options have been identified for car users and will be available starting June 12th.Parking Lot 15, which is located at the corner of W. Market St. and Camden St. near the old Parker Place building, is transitioning from a permitted lot to a public pay-to-park lot. This area includes 51 spaces, 4 of which are for Electric Vehicles and 6 are dedicated as Handicapped Parking. This transition will provide public parking for patrons of businesses near the entrance to the plaza as well as those along W. Market St.The lower end of Parking Lot 1 (the half of Lot 1 closer to the river) will turn into permitted parking, housing over 150 spaces. Any vehicles that previously had permits for Lot 15 will now be using Lower Lot 1, which is directly across the street. The entrance for Lower Lot 1 is found on W. Market St. across from the river. When registering for your next permit it will be for Lower Lot 1 and not Lot 15. If you would like to become a permitted parker, you can find the application at the link below."Access to downtown for all visitors is vital to supporting our businesses and community, so we want to make a variety of parking options widely available and accessible for everyone. We want to thank all residents for their continued patience while we navigate these new parking options together" said Mayor John "Jack" R. Heath. With the parking lot permissions changing in parts of Downtown Salisbury, residents are reminded that the parking garage will have free 2 hour parking while Unity Square construction is underway.
