OVERNIGHT FIRE REMINDS RESIDENTS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF WORKING SMOKE DETECTORS

Dorchester County, MD - On October 26, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire in a double-wide mobile home in the 6000 block of Oriole Drive in Dorchester County, Maryland. It should be noted, this location has a mailing address in Seaford, Delaware however the actual location of the fire is on the Maryland side of Dorchester County.


The fire originated from the underside of the property, causing an estimated loss of $1,000 to the mobile home. The occupant discovered the incident, which was not reported to the authorities until 7:42 a.m. in the Morning. This is a clear reminder of the importance of immediate action in such circumstances.


Thirty firefighters from the Eldorado Brookview Volunteer Fire Department and surrounding agencies swiftly responded to the alarm and managed to gain control of the blaze in just 15 minutes.


The Office of the State Fire Marshal was quick to step in and install new smoke alarms at the residences to address this critical safety oversight.


As the saying goes, "Prevention is better than cure," and this incident serves as a loud reminder for all of us to take necessary safety measures in our homes.
