Ocean City, MD- Staring on April 1, 2025, the charming coastal Town of Ocean City will embrace a new era of parking payment system with the introduction of ParkMobile. This move comes as part of the town's progressive efforts to modernize the parking management system and showcases the consistent commitment of Ocean City towards sustainability and innovation.
The initiative will see the phased withdrawal of traditional parking kiosks throughout the town and the introduction of the mobile-based ParkMobile payment system. This platform has already gained nationwide recognition, providing users the comfort of managing their parking payments straight from their smartphones.
The only exception in this transition would be the Inlet Parking Lot, where the kiosks will continue operating until the end of 2026.
The new system brings an array of benefits to the users, including:
- Convenience: Parking payments can be made via the ParkMobile app, eliminating the need to visit physical kiosks.
- Efficiency: The app offers quick and simple payments and sends gentle reminders when the parking time is about to expire.
- Flexibility: Users have the liberty to extend their parking sessions remotely, minimizing the risk of parking violations.
- Sustainability: The reduction in physical kiosks not only brings down maintenance costs but also lends a hand in the town's green initiatives.
To facilitate this transition, residents and visitors are required to download the ParkMobile app, register their vehicles and payment details, and follow the instructions as listed on ParkMobile signs in parking areas.
While traditional kiosks are on their way out, Ocean City will ensure ample informational signage to assist users in navigating the new system.
Additionally, parking payments can also be made via QR codes, text feature, or by phone, and a dedicated support line via ParkMobile is available for those requiring assistance.
Mayor Rick Meehan, expressing his anticipation towards the move, said, "Ocean City is always looking for ways to improve the visitor experience," commented Mayor Rick Meehan. "With ParkMobile, we are making parking more accessible, efficient, and environmentally friendly, ensuring a smoother experience for everyone who comes to enjoy our town."
Ocean City urges everyone to get acquainted with the ParkMobile system ahead of its implementation for a trouble-free transition. For additional information, please visit https://oceancitymd.gov/oc/ocean-city-parking/.
