Ocean City, MD - Ocean City is preparing for an influx of car enthusiasts with the upcoming annual Cruisin' Ocean City event. Scheduled from April 29 to May 4, the Ocean City Police Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety of all participants and residents during this popular event. To manage the increased activity, Ocean City has designated the area as a Special Event Zone for these dates.

In this zone, drivers will encounter reduced speed limits and higher fines for traffic violations. Due to legislation passed in 2020, offenders may face more severe penalties, similar to those enforced in construction zones. A strong police presence will be deployed, with support from allied agencies such as the Maryland State Police and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office to strictly enforce all traffic regulations.

Residents and visitors should expect significant traffic congestion and possible changes to regular traffic patterns. Additionally, the Town of Ocean City will implement higher parking rates and increased penalties from May 1 to May 4 under Resolution 2025-10. These adjustments aim to accommodate the surge in visitors while enhancing public safety efforts.

To maintain traffic flow and compliance during the event, parking penalties will focus on prohibited areas. Attendees are urged not to engage in dangerous behaviors like tire spins or "burnouts," as officers will enforce laws against any spectators who encourage such actions.

With pedestrian traffic expected to be high, visitors are advised to walk safely by using marked crosswalks, following traffic signals, and ensuring they are visible to drivers before crossing streets.
