Ocean City, MD-Ocean City Beach Patrol, Public Services, and Emergency Services have been diligently working together to monitor a rather unusual and unfortunate situation unfolding on our beautiful coastline in Ocean City, as well as north to Fenwick Island and south to Assateague Island.

Recently, we have experienced an influx of waste materials and medical debris washing onshore, causing understandable concern amongst beachgoers and residents.

As of our latest updated report this morning, the amount of waste and debris on the beach has substantially decreased from yesterday.

However, to ensure the absolute safety of everyone and out of an abundance of caution, the Town of Ocean City has decided to keep the beach's oceanic side closed for swimming and surfing until further notice.

We understand the disappointment this may bring, especially to our local surfers and tourists who were looking forward to basking in the sun and enjoying the waves. Rest assured, the Town of Ocean City is doing everything it can to handle this situation effectively and efficiently.

The Town of Ocean City truly appreciates your cooperation, understanding, and patience in this critical time.
