Talbot County, MD - In a significant announcement made today by Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown, he has stated that he would not be pursuing charges in connection to the fatal police pursuit that occurred on July 22, 2024, in Easton, Talbot County, Maryland.

On the evening of July 22, deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office, operating marked police vehicles, tried to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Route 50 and Dutchmans Lane in Easton, Maryland. The deputies signaled for the driver of the vehicle to pull over however, the driver chose not to comply and continued on Route 50, prompting a police pursuit.

Easton Police Department officers aided in the chase, which reached a dramatic conclusion when the vehicle crashed into a tree on Black Dog Alley. There were four people in the car at the time of the incident.

All passengers received immediate attention from the officers on site till Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived.

The driver and two rear seated passengers were transported to a local hospital where they were subsequently released post-treatment.

Tragically, the adult female in the front passenger seat was pronounced dead at a local hospital following the incident.

The state's Internal Investigations Division (IID) started examining the case immediately and concluded their investigation earlier this month, on January 16, 2025.

After a thorough evaluation of the evidence, the Attorney General's Office concluded that none of the officers involved in the incident committed a crime according to Maryland law.

Having analyzed all aspects of the case, Attorney General Brown determined that there was no basis to prosecute any of the officers involved. His decision brings to close a chapter in an incident that has undoubtedly impacted all parties involved.
