MULTIPLE FIRE DEPARTMENTS RESPOND TO MASSIVE FIRE IN MARDELA SPRINGS

Mardela Springs, MD - On January 29, 2025, at approximately 12:25 PM, a fire broke out at the Calloway Family Farm, located in the 8300 block of Athol Road in Mardela Springs, Wicomico County, Maryland.
Two large farm buildings along with farm equipment and vehicles were engulfed in a massive fire.
The incident, which took more than two hours for the firefighters to control, resulted in an approximate loss of $2,000,000.
Mardela Springs Fire Department, the primary responding fire department, had to ring two alarms to manage the situation with the help of 50 firefighters from assisting nearby agencies.
The fire was first discovered by the owner of the farm, but at the moment, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The farm's site is currently still under precautions as the Deputy State Fire Marshals continue their investigation.
