The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) declared the temporary closure of the Mulberry Landing Boat Ramp located in the Assawoman Wildlife Area near Bethany Beach. The closure, which will begin on March 6, is due to a construction project aimed at expanding and paving the boat ramp's gravel parking lot. The project's completion is expected by April 14, weather permitting.

Reflecting the ramp's rising popularity among boaters, the enhanced parking area located at the end of Mulberry Landing Road is set to include 23 trailer parking spaces and seven car parking spaces.

Throughout the construction period, the wildlife area remains open for regular usage, which includes pedestrian access to the Observation Tower. Moreover, vehicle parking is available at the Memorial Pond within the wildlife area. Visitors will be guided by signs directing them away from the construction zone.

For boaters affected by the ramp's temporary closure, nearby substitute boat launches include Holt's Landing State Park, Indian River Marina at Delaware Seashore State Park near Rehoboth Beach, and Rosedale Boat Ramp near Millsboro. These alternatives are open to the public, free of charge for Delaware residents, and grant access to Indian River. However, boaters with vessels registered outside of Delaware are reminded that they need a ramp certificate to launch.
