MARYLAND STATE POLICE ARREST 18-YEAR-OLD AND 15-YEAR-OLD AND CHARGE THEM WITH 1ST DEGREE MURDER OF CAMBRIDGE MAN

Dorchester County, MD - Maryland State Police, alongside the Cambridge Police Department, have taken significant strides in solving a fatal shooting case that recently took place in Dorchester County, Maryland.


Jo'Mir Omar Norman, 18, and a 15-year-old who is being charged as an adult, both from Cambridge, Maryland, have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Both suspects are being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center without bond.


The incident happened on the evening of October 20, 2024, around 7 pm, in the vicinity of Pine Street and Dunns Court in Cambridge, Maryland. Cambridge Police were dispatched to a report of gunshots and rushed to the scene. They discovered 26-year-old Virgil E. Simms on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.


After the incident, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was brought on board to spearhead the investigation, with support from local law enforcement, including troopers from the Easton Barrack, the Maryland State Special Tactical Assault Team Element (S.T.A.T.E.), crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division, and law enforcement from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and the Talbot County Narcotics Task Force.
