MARYLAND STATE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AN OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN SOMERSET COUNTY

Somerset County, MD - The Maryland State Police are currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred during a criminal investigation in Somerset County, Maryland.
The incident took place in Marion Station at approximately 8:00 p.m. on February 16, 2025, while law enforcement officers were conducting surveillance investigations involving a shooting that had occurred the previous night in Crisfield, Maryland.
Officers from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division encountered the suspect in the 5600 block of Tulls Corner Road. The suspect was armed with a firearm, and at some point, during the encounter, a Maryland State Trooper shot the suspect.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) teams quickly arrived and began administering care to the suspect, who was subsequently transported to R Adams Shock Trauma Center by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command's Trooper 4.
In accordance with the Maryland State Police's policies and standard procedures, the trooper who discharged their weapon has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation (standard procedure).
Maryland State Police crime scene technicians have processed the site of the incident, and a firearm has been recovered. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation in collaboration with the Office of the State's Attorney for Somerset County.
Additionally, the Maryland State Police's Internal Affairs Unit is conducting a separate investigation as part of standard protocol. The investigation is still ongoing.
