MARYLAND STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING THURSDAY FIRE IN CAROLINE COUNTY
Denton, MD - A fire that erupted on the morning of February 22, 2024, is currently under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. The blaze, which took place at a residence in Caroline County, was reported at approximately 10:10 A.M. at 108 N. Sixth Street in Denton, Maryland.
The structure, a two-story, wood-framed single-family dwelling, is owned by Daniel Wroe. At the time of the fire, the house was unoccupied and undergoing renovations.
The residence suffered significant damage, estimated at $180,000 for the structure and its contents, but thankfully there were no injuries or fatalities reported.
Authorities reported that the home did not have any smoke alarms or fire sprinkler systems installed.
The primary responding unit, Denton Volunteer Fire Company, arrived swiftly with 25 firefighters who worked for about an hour to bring the fire under control.
The incident was first discovered by multiple neighbors and passersby who noticed smoke and flames emerging from the property and acted quickly to call the 911 Center.
At present, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The area of origin is believed to be somewhere inside the interior, but details will remain unclear until the inquiry has been concluded.
