MARYLAND DOT ANNOUNCES ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS WITH DAYTIME LANE CLOSURES IN FOUR COUNTIES ON EASTERN SHORE

State of MD - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has announced plans for several roadway improvement projects across Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties. These projects include resurfacing, milling, repairing roadway depressions, and applying new line striping.  


Traffic Impacts Expected  

Motorists should prepare for single-lane closures during daytime hours as crews carry out resurfacing and repairs. Work is scheduled to take place on weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with all projects expected to be completed by late spring or early summer, weather permitting.  


Details of the Upcoming Roadway Projects  

Dorchester County  

  • Location: US 50 (Ocean Gateway) east and westbound between Bucktown Road and Austin Road in Cambridge (approximately two miles).  
  • Schedule: Work starts on Monday, April 7, 2025, with an anticipated completion by June 2025.  
  • Contractor: George & Lynch, Inc., Dover, Delaware.  


Somerset County  

  1. Location: MD 667 (Hudson Corner Road) between the start of State maintenance and MD 413 (Crisfield-Marion Road).  
    • Schedule: Work begins around May 1, 2025, with completion expected by early June.  
  2. Location: US 13 (Ocean Highway) northbound between the Pocomoke River and north of Costen Road.  
    • Schedule: Work starts on Friday, May 30, 2025, and is expected to conclude by mid-June.  
    • Contractor: Allan Myers, Inc., Dover, Delaware.  


Wicomico County  

  • Location: MD 350 (Mt. Hermon Road) between Sayers Road and MD 354 (Powellville Road).  
  • Schedule: Work is set to begin on Thursday, May 8, 2025, with completion expected by late June.  
  • Contractor: Allan Myers, Inc., Dover, Delaware.  


Worcester County  

  • Location: US 113 (Worcester Highway) southbound between Shiloh Farms Road and north of Langmaid Road.  
  • Schedule: Work begins Thursday, May 15, 2025, and is anticipated to be completed by mid-June.  
  • Contractor: Allan Myers, Inc., Dover, Delaware.

MDOT SHA emphasizes the importance of maintaining safe traffic mobility in work zones to protect both workers and motorists. Drivers should remain alert, adhere to reduced speed limits, and follow all posted traffic pattern changes during this time.
