MARCH IS ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS MONTH IN SALISBURY MARYLAND

Salisbury, MD - The Salisbury City Council has declared March 2025 as Endometriosis Awareness Month in Salisbury, Maryland. This proclamation aims to acknowledge and bring attention to the millions of individuals affected by endometriosis, a painful and often misunderstood health condition.
Endometriosis is characterized by the growth of tissue similar to the uterine lining outside of the uterus. This abnormal growth can lead to severe pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, infertility, and other life-altering challenges.
Despite impacting a substantial portion of the population, many individuals with this condition experience long delays in diagnosis, insufficient medical support, and considerable physical, emotional, and financial stress.
The proclamation was presented by Councilwoman Michele Gregory to Shannon Hannawald, a representative from Endo Warriors of the Eastern Shore. This local organization is dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and advocating for those affected by endometriosis.
Council President D'Shawn Doughty emphasized that the council's goal is to enhance awareness, encourage community support, and promote increased research and medical advancements.
The declaration of Endometriosis Awareness Month serves as a call to action for Salisbury residents, healthcare professionals, and community organizations. They are encouraged to raise awareness about the condition and foster a supportive environment for those impacted by endometriosis.
The Salisbury City Council urges everyone in the community to engage in meaningful discussions, lend support to those affected, and advocate for investments in research and education to improve care and treatment options for individuals living with endometriosis.
