MAN WITH WARRANT LEADS POLICE ON A FOOT PURSUIT AND RESISTS ARRESTS

Cambridge, MD - Tyrek Sincere Meekins, a 25-year-old Cambridge resident, was taken into police custody on February 22, 2025, for an active arrest warrant.


Cambridge Police were attempting to apprehend Meekins, but he fled from the police, leading the officers on an intense foot chase. The pursuit concluded at High St and Noble St, where Meekins was cornered.


Despite the determined efforts of the police, Meekins resisted arrest, going to the extent of attempting to bite an officer. Officers managed to subdue him without any significant harm to themselves or the accused.


Following his arrest, Meekins was brought to the Cambridge Police Department for processing, after which he made his initial court appearance. Meekins was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, held with no bond.


According to the charges filed against him, Meekins stands accused of resisting arrest, obstructing and hindering.


Additionally, a pre-existing Dorchester County District Court Bench Warrant stands against him for a previous violation of probation. The original charge, in this case, was for Escape in the 2nd Degree.
