Laurel, DE - In a collaborative effort with the Delaware State Police, the Laurel Police Department successfully solved a two-day robbery case at the Hollybrook Apartments in Laurel, Delaware.

On April 5, 2024, police responded to a distress call about a robbery in progress. The suspect had reportedly attacked a victim, forcing them to the ground by their neck, and then proceeded to rob them of their cash. The victim, however, was not physically harmed/injured. After the attack, the suspect quickly fled the scene.

Following a thorough investigation, police identified the alleged suspect as 39-year-old Darron J Hines. An arrest warrant was issued for Hines, and officers in the area were alerted to be on watch for the man.

Two days later, during a routine patrol in the same apartment complex, a Laurel Police officer spotted Hines. Hines was taken into custody in the stairwell of the 700 Building of Hollybrook Apartments without any incidents, and during the arrest, Hines was found in possession of crack cocaine.

Hines was immediately brought to the Laurel Police Department and has since been charged with Second Degree Robbery, a Class E Felony, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Following his arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 3, Hines was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $4,000 secured bond.

Notably, at the time of the criminal charges, Hines was on active probation. Consequently, the Delaware Department of Probation and Parole has issued a Violation of Probation warrant against him.

All suspects named in this article are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
